Karl Erik Schøllhammer – Dinamarca
Ph.D. Full Professor, Resident Director of Consortium of Advanced Studies Abroad (CASA-Brazil). Prof. Karl Erik Schøllhammer holds an M.A. in Nordic Literature, a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature and a Ph.D. in Semiotics and Latin American Literature from Aarhus University (Denmark). He is Full Professor of the Department of Language and Literature at the Pontifície Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), researcher at the Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa (CNPq) and Cientista do Nosso Estado (Faperj). Since 2004, he has been resident coordinator of student exchange between PUC and Brown University and since 2018 he is the Director of the Consortium of Advanced Studies Abroad (CASA) in Rio de Janeiro. In 2020, Guest Researcher at ENGEROM, Copenhagen University. Research Focus: Schøllhammer has published extensively on contemporary Brazilian literature and culture and his last single authored books are Ficção brasileira Contemporânea (Civilização Brasileira 2009/2011), Cena do Crime (Civilização Brasileira 2013), Além do visível – o olhar da literatura (2007, 2016) and Affect and Realism in Contemporary Brazilian Fiction (Anthem Press, 2020). The main fields of his research are World Literature, Visual Studies, Brazilian Culture, Latin American Literature and Arts with special attention to representation of violence, exclusion and trauma.
